Roman Katynski

Board President

Roman Katynski holds an MBA with concentration in Energy and Environment Management from the University of Bridgeport. He also is a Certified Energy Procurement professional (CEP) with the Association of Energy Engineers. Roman started his career as an operating engineer installing underground utilities while attending college. He entered the Energy Management industry in 2008 working for a natural gas supplier, learning the transport and delivery side of the natural gas business, and assisting customers understand deregulated energy and the options available for natural gas and electricity. In 2012, Roman’s passion for energy and an entrepreneurial mindset led him to start RJ Consulting; an energy and waste consulting company for the commercial and industrial sector. Roman is helping clients navigate the many options with energy, adapting to an ever-changing energy environment, and building on the future of energy. Roman lives in Parrish, FL with his wife and three young sons. He is active in sports playing in an adult baseball league, golfing, basketball and enjoys staying active and healthy. “Be the change you want to see in the world” Mohandas Gandhi

Adriel Mercado

Board Vice President

Adriel Mercado holds an Electrical Engineering Degree from the University of Florida with a concentration on Energy Power Systems and is a LEED accredited professional.  Adriel’s experience is broad, having worked in MEP Design, Energy Performance Contracting, Design-Build-Operate-Maintain and Energy-as-a-Service models. After spending 8 years in the MEP world as a Design and Project Engineer, he entered the Energy Management Industry as a Development Engineer. After that he led the SE Regional lighting team for a large ESCO and directed engineering and operations for a small Turnkey Energy Contractor in the MUSH market. Recently he was a Project Director for the LED Lighting and Electrical Metering projects at Hillsborough County Schools.   Currently, he is the Lighting Solutions Manager for Trane Technologies and is concentrating on bringing Intelligent LED Lighting and Integrated controls to all markets and each building’s Wellsphere TM.

Adriel lives in Wesley Chapel, Florida with his wife, and their two children. In his time away from work, Adriel enjoys golf, dusting the Peloton, pool chemistry, and aspiring to be a Tampa Bay Foodie.

Dr. Rajiv Sahay

Board Secretary

Dr. Sahay has over three decades of experience at doctoral, postdoctoral, and professional level in experimental and analytical research/diagnostics services pertaining to the biological, microbiological, and environmental sciences. His area of expertise is in Aerobiology, Bacteriology, Environmental Microbiology/Sciences, Mycology, Palynology, and associated sciences. Dr. Sahay practices environmental sampling, testing and identification of aerobiota on a daily basis. Currently he is serving as a Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of Pure Air Control Services, Inc., and Laboratory Director/Technical Manager of Environmental Diagnostics Laboratory. A well-respected industry expert, who performs a wide range of analytical and scientific services including monitoring both biological and a-biological content of environments. He has analyzed, supervised, or assisted in the analysis of well over 600,000 environmental samples collected from air, surface, and liquid/water across the United States and abroad. He is an expert in handling various kinds of air samplers. Dr. Sahay has successfully managed to test and publish project reports by enumerating various contaminants isolated and identified from environmental samples. He has also designed and developed Bio-ScanTM as an effective inexpensive media for surface sampling. Efficacy testing of new products designed for air quality control or testing antimicrobial products are the other of other similar services.Dr. Sahay provides educational outreach programs to the public for awareness on Indoor Environment/Air Quality. He emphasizes the role of the environmental microbiology laboratory via training, meetings, seminars, or webinar, as a community and industry related services. A regular column/article writer in various magazine or web-based publications related to IEQ/IAQ, industrial hygiene, product efficacy testing and associated area.

Maria Meier

Board Treasurer

Maria Meier currently works for McKinstry as a Sr. Building Energy Engineer in the Tampa Bay Area. She has over 12 years of experience in the Energy Industry, developing and providing technical support to various customers with the end goal of improving facilities and occupant comfort. The projects she has been involved with included HVAC, Building Controls, Lighting, Renewable Energy, Process Systems, Retro-Commissioning, New Construction Commissioning and Water Conservation projects which require technical expertise and solutions using various industry standard methods. She is skilled in energy efficiency analysis and sustainability concepts from auditing more than 80 facilities: including military, municipalities, multi-family, restaurants, educational and historic sites, among other types of commercial customers.

Maria has a husband and two children. She loves being out in the water and enjoys playing tennis.
